FAQs

We get it. While building this site we had heaps of questions ourselves, so it’s only natural you’ll have questions! Have a read through the FAQs we put together and if your question isn’t answered here, please contact us and let us know what you’re looking for. Thank you!

General

Once I went through my second layoff where I was suddenly without a job, there were a lot of feelings and thoughts going through my head. In speaking with a number of people and doing a bit of research, it became apparent that most information is very one-sided. I know people that have had to do the actual layoffs, many that have lived through the aftermath while remaining at their employers, and of course, I know many that have been laid off. I thought it would be interesting to create a place where we can talk about all sides.

If we put our honest thoughts “out there”, we can help one another process what we’re going through and learn from one another. Sadly, layoffs are a common occurrence so who knows what side you’ll find yourself in a few days, months, years from now…?

There’s no shortage of sites available to promote how great things are in our lives, but when the going gets tough, people don’t talk. Think about it, how many people do you know that have posted publicly about losing their job – or job issues – on sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.? (Not. Very. Many.) Now, think of how many people you know that have lost their job or they’re grappling with issues at work? (This number is likely larger than the former group, right?) Everyone has their reasons for not wanting to “talk about it” and it probably has a lot to do keeping up public and/or professional appearances.

That’s where we come in. Here, you can be anonymous, say what you’re really thinking and help others along the way while moving forward yourself. (It’s a win-win if you ask us!)

If you choose to stay silent, you are alone… but it doesn’t have to be that way.

If you need to vent, that’s ok. That’s part of the process of getting these thoughts out of your head! It will become painfully obvious if you just want to complain and don’t want to do anything to help your situation. At the end of the day, if you want to move forward, this community is here as your sounding board and to help you with the choices that lie ahead.
